OneSelection2WinWeekendRacingMail

Welcome to OneSelection2Win Weekend Racing Mail for Saturday 24th September, we have come up with our best for each meetings around the country.

ROSEHILL (NSW)
TRACK – (GOOD 4)

RACE 1 No: 1 ANTONIO GIUSEPPE – Racing in great form winning last three and can’t see no reason to jump of his back now. Getting up in the weights but claim helps. The extra distance looks a plus and a winning chance again.

RACE 4 No: 5 SMART AMELIA – Did a good job finishing just over four-lengths from the winner in the Furious resuming. Placed in the Widden on debut in two runs in her first preparation and right up to winning this race. Win won’t shock.

RACE 5 No: 1 IMPENDING – Placed in the Run To The Rose and Golden Rose in his two runs this time in. Still scope for improvement and this looks his race.

RACE 8 No: 7 CAPE CRUSADER – Just a run short at Rosehill when resuming. Fitter, extra distance suits, drops nicely in weight, great 2nd up stats. Winning chance.
***

CAULFIELD (VIC)
TRACK – (GOOD 3)

RACE 2 No: 8 THE BANDIT – Ran a huge race first-up and looks a pure stayer. He’ll be better for the run and the step up to this distance is more to his liking. Has a 100% record 2nd up. Monitor any betting moves. Go close.

RACE 5 No: 11 LEOTIE – Comes off a soft win here at this trip and track. Just needs luck getting cover from the gate in the early stages of the race, she will be hard to hold with even luck in running.

RACE 7 No: 9 TIVACI – He’s a really consistent type that is second-up and has drawn well. After his first-up run down the straight at Flemington, the 1400m is ideal for him and he should be fighting out the finish with any luck.

RACE 9 No: 7 INZ’N’OUT – Hasn’t won for a while but he’s always close up in good grade. Placed in a recent Rosehill trial. Straight into the box seat and should get the perfect run in transit, only a kilo over the limit has does have strong claims in an open event.

***

EAGLE FARM (QLD)
TRACK – (SOFT 5)

RACE 6 No: 9 BIDDI BABE – Resuming. Has shown promise in early preparations. Has won at this track and distance. Watch for any betting support.

RACE 8 No: 6 FIRE WITHIN – Racing consistently of late without winning and does likes this track. Ran on well here last week and should be running on again.

***

MORPHETTVILLE PARKS (SA)
TRACK – (SOFT 5)

RACE 2 No: 2 URBAN RULER – Resumed when a strong all the way winner beating some handy types in the process. Seemingly raced flat when still not totally disgraced 2nd-up. Peaks for this and shapes as a likely big improver. Can give a sight without surprising. Hard to beat.

RACE 6 No: 2 GALAXY GAZER – Very headstrong galloper finally looking to realise potential coming into this off the back of a couple of very nice recent efforts. Finally draws a gate here-absolutely respecting again. Can win again.

GOOD LUCK & GOOD PUNTING

When the name ‘Al Maher’ is mentioned to Gai, three words that feature prominently in her response are ‘toughness’, ‘honesty’ and ‘brilliance’. We talk about the value of a stallion ‘stamping their stock’ or passing on many of their own traits and I can think of no greater example of this than Al Maher. Winning over $1.1 million in prize money, which included a win in the Group 1 Australian Guineas, Al Maher raced consistently at the highest level. Trained by Gai, she knew exactly what it took to prepare this great colt and it has not stopped at Al Maher himself. He has produced three Group 1 winners, all trained by Gai. She has also trained King Lionheart and Pheidon to secure victory at Group 2 level. This feat is unmatched by any other trainer, she truly is the best at getting the most out of this family.

AFL – SEMI FINALS WEEK 3 PLAYS

Welcome to Week 3 of the AFL Semi Final series where we are down to the Grand Final playoffs, in which the winning teams will be heading to the MCG for the GF.

download-35

Second Preliminary Final: Friday, September 23rd, 7.50pm, MCG

GEELONG v SYDNEY SWANS

SPORTSBET BETTING: GEELONG $1.65 – SYDNEY SWANS $2.30

SUMMARY
The Sydney Swans responded to their qualifying final loss to cross-town rival Greater Western Sydney with a 36-point win over Adelaide, but it came at a significant cost. The Swans will give co-captain Jarrad McVeigh (calf) and speedster Gary Rohan (knee) every chance to prove their fitness, with ruckman Kurt Tippett (jaw) at the head of the queue to return. Geelong, meanwhile, has had the perfect preparation and will enter Friday night’s blockbuster having played just one match in 27 days following the pre-finals bye. The Swans’ six-day turnaround may not be ideal but John Longmire’s men will draw inspiration from their away win over the Cats in round 16. The star-studded midfield battle is sure to entertain and the physicality between these two hardened teams will be the centrepiece of the night.

THIS YEAR
Round 16: Sydney Swans 15.8 (98) d Geelong 9.6 (60) at Simonds Stadium
After a tumultuous week leading into his 200th game, Swans co-captain Kieren Jack put his bitter family dispute with his parents aside to star with 24 disposals and three goals, kicking the game’s opening goal with a clever snap across his body. The Swans set up the win with a four-goal-to-two third quarter to open up a 27-point lead at the last change.

LAST FIVE TIMES
R16, 2016, Sydney Swans 15.8 (98) d Geelong 9.6 (60) at Simonds Stadium
R19, 2015, Geelong 14.11 (95) d Sydney Swans 9.9 (63) at Simonds Stadium

First Preliminary Final: Saturday, September 24th, 5.15pm, SPOTLESS STADIUM

GWS v Western Bulldogs

SPORTSBET BETTING: GWS $1.36 – WESTERN BULLDOGS $3.25

SUMMARY
Two of the competition’s most exciting sides will do battle at a sold-out Spotless Stadium, and the reward will be historic for the winner. The Giants are in their first ever finals series and with every win are creating new milestones, while the Bulldogs are chasing their first grand final appearance since 1961, and just their third of all time. GWS had the luxury of sitting back with the week off after its stunning win over the Sydney Swans, and they must have been impressed by the Dogs, who followed up their crucial win over West Coast on the road by bouncing the three-time reigning champs. This game will show off some of the game’s best young talent, with Stephen Coniglio, Dylan Shiel, Josh Kelly, Marcus Bontempelli, Caleb Daniel and Jack Macrae all in stunning touch.

THIS YEAR
Round 9, Greater Western Sydney 15.8 (98) d Western Bulldogs 10.13 (73) at Spotless Stadium
The Bulldogs went in without suspended duo Matthew Boyd and Jack Redpath, while injuries to Robert Murphy, Jason Johannisen, Matt Suckling and Marcus Adams left the backline extremely undermanned. The visitors made a bright start but poor finishing cost them dearly, and the Giants’ big names stepped up, despite the loss of defenders Matt Buntine (concussion) and Tim Mohr (hamstring). Heath Shaw ran riot in the back 50 and had 36 kicks for the day, while star forwards Jeremy Cameron, Toby Greene and Steve Johnson booted 10 goals between them.

LAST FIVE MEETINGS
R9, 2016, Greater Western Sydney15.8 (98) d Western Bulldogs 10.13 (73) at Spotless Stadium
R9, 2015, Western Bulldogs 16.17 (113) d Greater Western Sydney 11.2 (68) at Etihad Stadium
R23, 2014, Greater Western Sydney 18.7 (115) d Western Bulldogs 15.19 (109) at Etihad Stadium
R4, 2014, Western Bulldogs 17.8 (110) d Greater Western Sydney 12.11 (83) at Manuka Oval

NRL – SEMI FINALS WEEK 3 PLAYS

Welcome to Week 3 of the NRL Final series where we are down to the final 4 teams for the season. Which team will make the Grand Final?

image-9

Finals Week 3: Friday, September 23rd, 7.55pm, ALLIANZ Stadium

CRONULLA SUTHERLAND SHARKS v NORTH QUEENSLAND COWBOYS

BETTING: SHARKS $2.00 – COWBOYS $1.85

SUMMARY
And then there were four. The last remaining Sydney team hosts last year’s premiers in the first of two preliminary finals this weekend.

The Sharks enter this one on the back of a much-needed weekend off courtesy of a gritty 16-14 qualifying final win in Canberra a fortnight ago.

Having gone into that game with just one win from their previous six starts (including a loss to Canberra who themselves were on an 11-game winning run going into the finals) few tipped the Sharks to spring an upset, particularly after skipper Paul Gallen was ruled out with a back complaint.

Their situation became even more dire when stand-in skipper Wade Graham was concussed early on but Shane Flanagan’s men managed to eke out a crucial win. That week off allowed Gallen to get his back right and Graham to get in a full week of training after passing a follow-up cognitive test.

It also allowed key prop Sam Tagataese to overcome a shoulder injury; the Samoa international’s absence keenly felt in Cronulla’s late-season slump and this side on paper is a much stronger one than that which edged the Raiders.

For now, Tagataese has been named in jersey 18 with rookie Kurt Capewell holding a bench spot following his strong outing against the Raiders. Gallen’s return at lock pushes Jason Bukuya to the bench and Jesse Sene-Lefao out of the team.

We could never do justice to the heaving, frantic, ebbing, epic 90-minute thriller played out by Cronulla’s opponents North Queensland last week in Townsville over old rivals Brisbane but suffice to say the boys from the Shire will have been pleased to see that one run for 90 minutes in sapping heat and humidity.

Cowboys coach Paul Green and his support staff though are used to managing the demands of heat and travel and the seven days since will hopefully allow him to get his troops back in tip top condition for the trip to Sydney.

The only change for Green is the return of Kane Linnett from injury in the centres, pushing Javid Bowen to the wing and impressive teenager Kalyn Ponga out of the team following a great debut last week in what was his first but certainly not last NRL appearance.

HISTORY
Played 40; Sharks 24, Cowboys 16. If you discount the 90s and early 2000s when North Queensland weren’t the powerhouse they are today, they have a 15 from 26 winning record against the Sharks from 2004 to now. The last eight meetings are split four apiece. Allianz has not been a happy hunting ground for the northerners, who are on a five-match losing run (against the Sharks, Sea Eagles and Roosters) at the venue having not won there since 2010. They have just six wins from 21 starts there overall. No such worries exist for the hosts, who have won their past four (against the Roosters and Rabbitohs) at Allianz. The only previous meeting between these two teams at Moore Park was won 20-18 by Cronulla in the 2013 finals in what was the controversial ‘seventh-tackle try’ match.

2016 RESULTS

Finals Week 3: Saturday, September 24th, 7.45pm, AAMI Park

MELBOURNE STORM v CANBERRA RAIDERS

BETTING: STORM $1.45 – RAIDERS $2.85

SUMMARY
80 minutes. That’s all that separates the Melbourne Storm and the Canberra Raiders from a spot in the 2016 NRL Grand Final.

These sides were the two best teams after 26 Rounds this season, but only one will be playing for the chance to lift the Provan-Summons trophy next Sunday night.

Melbourne enjoyed a week off last week after defeating the Cowboys 16-10 in the qualifying final.

The rest was an important one for the Storm given that lock Dale Finucane wouldn’t have played last weekend considering he’s only now just getting over an ankle injury.

Despite going down at home in the qualifying final to Cronulla, Canberra bounced back quickly to record a 22-12 win over Penrith in the semi-final to book their spot in the final four.

The Raiders have won 11 of their past 12 matches and have been in almost unstoppable form since that run began.

They enter this game with the same 17 from last weekend, although the Storm have made one change.

Nelson Asofa-Solomona will miss the rest of the season with an elbow injury in a massive blow for Melbourne, with Christian Welch, Felise Kaufusi and Matt White all brought in to fight it out for the remaining interchange spot.

HISTORY
Played 37; Storm 26, Raiders 11. Despite the Storm have a much better overall record, the past six meetings between these sides have been evenly split. Only one of those fixtures will be on the minds of these players though, as Canberra beat Melbourne 22-8 in Round 23 just six weeks ago.

Weekend Racing Mail – (Saturday 17th September)

cropped-eye1.jpg

OneSelection2WinWeekendRacingMail

Welcome to OneSelection2Win Weekend Racing Mail for Saturday 17th September, we have come up with our best for each meetings around the country.

RANDWICK (NSW)
TRACK – (SOFT 5)

RACE 3 No: 8 GUARD OF HONOUR – Resumes on the back of a strong Wyong trial win (2nd: Clearly Innocent). Warwick Farm winner only run last preparation with leading rider on, Hugh Bowman sticks is a plus. Receives a soft run from the inside gate. Win won’t shock.

RACE 4 No: 6 GLOBAL GLAMOUR – Impressive Kembla winner only run in her first preparation. Handled the turn awkwardly when fresh but got going late when placed in the Furious to run third. Natural improvement with added fitness now, possibly ridden a touch closer. Tommy Berry sticks, Strong claims.

RACE 8 No: 8 TSARITSA – Promising mare who didn’t have the race run to suit when placed at Randwick fresh. Appears to be more early speed here and if that’s the case she will be strong late. Hard to beat.

RACE 9 No: 9 DAYSEE DOOM – Runner-up on the back of successive trial placings at Randwick. Unbeaten in three runs in her first preparation, looks to be a promising horse in the making. Claim brings her in half kilo over the limit. Strong winning chance.

***

CAULFIELD (VIC)
TRACK – (SOFT 7)

RACE 3 No: 2 SERENELY DISCREET – She’s come back well with a good first up win at Morphettville, Fitter and the soft track is no problem as she has a 100% record in the wet. Straight into the box seat, she’ll be in the finish. Stable doesn’t bring to Melbourne unless they show something at home. Eachway.

RACE 5 No: 13 KACHING – Was dominant last start winner at Bendigo, longer trip will suit. With any luck from the gate in the early stages of the race will enhance his chances. Will be flying home late. Both Totes.

RACE 7 No: 9 THE VIRGINIAN – Promising sprinter with a Stradbroke placing in his first preparation to Under The Louvre / Black Heart Bart. He’s trialled well for his return to racing with strong 1000m win. Drawn to receive soft run. He’ll be strong late. Winning chance.

RACE 8 No: 4 REAL LOVE – Ran a huge race fresh without much luck. Perfectly suited out to this trip. Does have great record 2nd up with two wins from three attempts, winning jockey back on is another plus. Eachway with the price on offer.

***

EAGLE FARM (QLD)
TRACK – (SOFT 7)

RACE 1 No: 1 EMERALD CITY – Ran on well at his 2nd start back at the Sunshine Coast. The 3kg claim helps and this distance will suit now with the added fitness now. Go close.

RACE 7 No: 14 BOUND FOR LOVE – In top form and beat subsequent winner San Telmo easily last start. Rises in grade here but with only 52.5kg will give a great sight. Inform on definite winning chance.

***

MORPHETTVILLE (SA)
TRACK – (HEAVY 9)

RACE 3 No: 2 BIRDS OF TOKYO – Absolute mudlark that has obviously relished recent wet tracks. Should only find this easier than than latest strong efforts-really does appear extremely hard to beat.

RACE 6 No: 2 ILLUSTRIOUS LAD – Resuming. Blew his rivals away when came with a big run to score last start here. Noted very good fresh galloper that will absolutely get this run to suit with likely strong pressure on up front. Watch for him to be motoring late-don’t dismiss. Take beating.

***

BEAUMONT – NEWCASTLE (NSW)
TRACK – (SOFT 6)

RACE 4 No: 3 BEZEL – Has won both his trials leading into this. Finished a close second at Canterbury last May only run in his first preparation and the one to beat resuming in a provincial maiden.

RACE 5 No: 10 TAWFIQ BOY – Ran into a smart one on debut at Scone before having plenty on a maiden field at Kempsey last start. Looks more than capable of working through the grades.

Second Semi Final: Friday, September 16th, 7.50pm, MCG

HAWTHORN v WESTERN BULLDOGS

SPORTSBET BETTING: HAWTHORN $1.56 – WESTERN BULLDOGS $2.50

SUMMARY
Hawthorn’s path towards a record-equalling fourth premiership in a row became significantly tougher the moment Isaac Smith missed his after-the-siren shot in the epic two-point qualifying final loss to Geelong last Friday night. Like last season, the Hawks now have to win three cut-throat finals to clinch the flag, starting with a dangerous semi-final assignment against the Western Bulldogs at the MCG. The Dogs will be brimming with confidence after dominating their elimination final clash with West Coast at Domain Stadium and could worry the reigning premiers if they bring the same intensity around the ball.

THIS YEAR
Round three: Hawthorn 14.9 (93) d Western Bulldogs 13.12 (90) at Etihad Stadium
The Bulldogs dominated possession and contested ball but couldn’t put the Hawks away after leading by 19 points at the final change. James Sicily booted all three of his goals in the last quarter to help clinch an epic win.

First Semi Final: Friday, September 9th, 7.50pm, SCG

SYDNEY SWANS v ADELAIDE CROWS

SPORTSBET BETTING: SWANS $1.64 – ADELAIDE $2.30

SUMMARY
The Swans are battered after a bruising qualifying final loss to Greater Western Sydney, and lost ruckman Kurt Tippett (jaw) and defender Callum Mills (hamstring) for their clash with Adelaide. The minor premiers blew their chance of securing a vital home preliminary final with the loss against the Giants, but must regroup quickly with the in-form Crows and their multi-dimensional forward line coming to town. Crows’ skipper Taylor Walker, Eddie Betts, Josh Jenkins and Tom Lynch have kicked 219 goals between them this year, and present an enormous challenge for the Swans’ defence, who are the best performed group in the competition this season. Nick Smith will get the job on Betts and will want his midfielders to apply a lot more pressure up the ground than they did against GWS, while All Australian Dane Rampe will be looking to respond after lowering his colours to Jeremy Cameron last week.

THIS YEAR
Round four: Adelaide Crows 16.17 (113) d Sydney Swans 15.13 (103) at Adelaide Oval
The two teams played out a classic in front of over 51,000 fans, with the Crows’ composure under pressure late in the game helping them over the line. Lance Franklin and Isaac Heeney kicked four goals each for the Swans, as did Eddie Betts for the home side, and it was the small forwards’ final goal that sealed the result late in the game.

LAST FIVE MEETINGS
R4, 2016, Adelaide Crows 16.17 (113) d Sydney Swans 15.13 (103) at Adelaide Oval
R18, 2015, Sydney Swans 17.15 (117) d Adelaide Crows 9.11 (65) at the SCG
R3, 2014, Sydney Swans 21.8 (134) d Adelaide Crows 9.17 (71) at Adelaide Oval

NRL – SEMI FINALS WEEK 2 PLAYS

Welcome to Week 2 of the NRL Semi Final series where we have two very intriguing games to be played for week 2 of the 2016 semi final series.

Finals Week 2: Friday, September 16th, 7.55pm, 1300SMILES Stadium

NORTH QUEENSLAND COWBOYS v BRISBANE BRONCOS

BETTING: COWBOYS $1.47 – BRONCOS $2.75

SUMMARY
It’s on again.

Perhaps the greatest rivalry in modern rugby league will again take place on Friday night as the North Queensland Cowboys host the Brisbane Broncos at 1300SMILES Stadium.

The semi-final between last year’s grand finalists is set to bring out the best in both sides as they battle for a preliminary final berth against the Cronulla-Sutherland Sharks.

The last three meetings between these two teams have each been decided by a single point, with the Cowboys winning last year’s premiership decider in an exhilarating golden point battle that was widely described as the greatest grand final of all time.

Brisbane hit back with an Anthony Milford field goal in extra-time in Round 4 this year but just two months later in Round 11 Johnathan Thurston again won it for his side with a field goal five minutes from full-time.

The only other meeting between these sides within the last 12 months came in last year’s qualifying final, with the Broncos prevailing 16-12 in front of a huge Suncorp Stadium crowd.

If Brisbane were to win on Friday night it would be the ultimate grand final revenge for last year’s heartbreaking defeat, but it’s set to be their most difficult assignment of the season as they visit a North Queensland side that has only lost one game at home all year.

For the Cowboys, centre Kane Linnett is out with a hamstring injury. The inexperienced Javid Bowen will replace him in the only change for North Queensland.

Brisbane will welcome back Tom Opacic from a shoulder injury and Jonus Pearson will shift back to 18th man. There is a chance Pearson may play as centre James Roberts heads to the judiciary to fight his contrary conduct charge on Wednesday night.

HISTORY
Played 45; Cowboys 13, Broncos 30, Drawn 2. It took 17 games stretching the course of a decade for North Queensland to finally register a win over ‘big brother’, but just like any little bro, they’ve come of age to give as good as they get. The Cowboys hold a sparkling 4-1 record over Brisbane in finals matches, but if you’re one for patterns then the Broncos are looking good considering no side has strung consecutive wins together in the last seven meetings – and it’s the visitors’ turn to win here.

2016 RESULTS
Round 4: Suncorp Stadium – Brisbane Broncos 21 def. North Queensland Cowboys 20
Round 11: 1300SMILES Stadium – North Queensland Cowboys 19 def. Brisbane Broncos 18

OUR TIP: COWBOYS by 4pts

Finals Week 2: Saturday, September 17th, 7.45pm, GIO Stadium

CANBERRA RAIDERS v PENRITH PANTHERS

BETTING: RAIDERS $1.85 – PANTHERS $2.00

SUMMARY
It’s the question on every Raiders fan’s lips: Will Blake Austin and Josh Hodgson play in Canberra’s elimination semi-final clash against the Panthers on Saturday afternoon?

Austin hasn’t been sighted since Round 24 after he broke his hand in a training mishap. The five-eighth has been named in place of Sam Williams this week and is at the very least rated a better chance of playing than influential hooker Josh Hodgson.

Hodgson was carried off midway through the Raiders’ last-start 16-14 loss to the Sharks with ankle ligament damage and bone bruising – and while he’s been named by coach Ricky Stuart he’s rated very unlikely to play.

The Panthers have had no such injury troubles and have named the same team for the third straight week following their bruising 28-12 win over the Bulldogs last Sunday.

HISTORY
Played 69; Raiders 34, Panthers 34, Drawn 1. The Raiders and Panthers have shared the chocolates in their two clashes this year. The two clubs started their respective 2016 campaigns against one another with the Shaun Fensom-inspired Raiders emerged 30-22 victors in Round 1. They last played in Round 9 in Bathurst when a Peter Wallace field goal separated the two teams.

2016 RESULTS
Round 1: GIO Stadium – Canberra Raiders 30 def. Penrith Panthers 22
Round 9: Carrington Park (Bathurst) – Penrith Panthers 19 def. Canberra Raiders 18

OUR TIP: PENRITH PANTHERS by 10pts

‘MAGNIFICENT, BIG, STRONG – SO TYPICAL OF THE AL MAHER BREED’

GAI LOVES this COLT and has TRAINED some of the BEST HORSES by AL MAHER including – DIAMOND DRILLE, FAT AL & ALMALAD all to GROUP 1 WINS!
