FLEMINGTON – CROWN OAKS DAY MAIL – THURSDAY 5TH NOVEMBER

Traditionally known as ‘ladies day’, the racing highlight of Crown Oaks Day is the Group 1 Crown Oaks, a classic for three-year-old fillies over 2500m, with $1 million in prize money and a stunning winner’s trophy.

The elegant atmosphere of Crown Oaks Day fittingly plays host to the national final of Myer Fashions on the Field Women’s Racewear competition. Myer Fashions on the Field plays out over the first three racedays of the week and is as much a part of the Melbourne Cup Carnival as the horses.

Crown Oaks Day is a wonderful social occasion for friends to gather on this most stylish of days, and soak up the atmosphere in a glamorous environment, surrounded by manicured gardens, fine dining and beautiful marquees.

CROWN OAKS DAY MAIL
Weather: Showers, Track: SOFT 5, Pen: 4.78, Rail: Out 2m Entire Circuit

Race 1 – 12:05PM Red Rock Deli Plate (1700m)
No: 13 YELLEN – Comes off a good win at Kembla first up, fitter and she has raced well this direction last campaign. She’ll handle any downgrades in the track if any, and be right in the finish. Big Watch. (WINNER $5.00)

Race 2 – 12:40PM Swisse Wellness Trophy (1800m)
No: 4 LUCKY PADDY – Brave win trapped off the track last start. Still on the improve, if he has some luck from the gate he’ll be in the finish.

Race 3 – 1:20PM Off The Track Subzero Challenge (1400m)
No: 2 SECRET TOY BIZNESS – Won this race last year and looks to be in similar form. If she can hold her spot midfield from the good gate she’s hard to hold out. (PLACED – 2ND $2.00)

Race 4 – 2:00PM Gucci Stakes (1100m)
No: 14 RIAPINKA – Dominant winner resuming at Wyong. Stable wouldn’t bring her here if they thought she wasn’t up to this standard. Respect any betting moves.

Race 5 – 2:40PM TCL Curved TV Stakes (1800m)
NO: 8 BAHEEJ – Nicely bred colt that’s crying out for more ground. He’ll sit just off the pace and be hard to hold out if this track does play fair. Go Close.

Race 6 – 3:20PM Dilmah Earl Grey Stakes (1000m)
No: 17 WILD RAIN – Shot through the grades last time in resulting a Stakes win in Adelaide. She’ll box seat and she does loves the cut in the track. Not out of it by no means. Win won’t shock. Both Totes. (PLACED – 2ND $2.80)

Race 7 – 4:00PM G.H. Mumm Stakes (1100m)
No: 18 TUSCAN SLING – Smart mare coming off a big run in the Alinghi Stakes and still with plenty of improvement to come. She’ll love any give in the track so should run a big race if she can conditions to suit.

Race 8 – 4:40PM Crown Oaks (2500m)
No: 3 SACRED EYE – Yet to miss top two in all her runs to date and the form is good through Etymology last start. Bred to handle a soft track and distance, she’s a big danger as she does have a touch of class. Hard to beat.

Race 9 – 5:20PM Crown Resorts Plate (1600m)
No: 7 ROCK FORTHE LADIES – Surprised he’s not in the greys race as he was strong win at the Valley. Progressive horse and comes off a good win. He’ll be hard to hold out from the good gate. Looking for the mile now, just needs a touch of luck in the straight to be very competitive here. Will be strong late.
